Window Narratives

There are 12 office windows in de Pijp, each telling a different story. 18 Short videos are exhibited by 14 international artists. The films are from different genres: experimental, animation, documentation and fiction. You can pass by the windows or spend a moment, catching a glimpse of what’s happening and perhaps disappear for a while into another world, right in the middle of the street.

Each video is unique. The exhibition’s theme is vulnerability, fragility and poetry.
The content of each work is divers- the human being and it’s body; the myth ‘Lot’; or a moment captured in natural surroundings.

To give you an example, Noortje de Keijzer about her work: “ ‘My Knitted Boyfriend’ is a pillow with personality. A cushion to kiss! Or, well... to cuddle, to caress, to hug, and to smile with. This man is always happy, and he is flexible as well. He loves to lie down next to you, with your head on his chest and his arms wrapped around you. With this man you can be sure, he will never leave you!”

The participating artists are Augusto Pereira Silva, Dominique Panhuysen, Ebelina Brethouwer, Esther van Casteren, Ine Geraedts, Jan van Ijken, Jolijn de Wolf, Liesbeth Overwater, Margreet Kramer, Nienke Brokke, Niki Murphy, Noortje de Keijzer, Nynke Deinema, Tanja den Herder.

The exhibition gives the viewer a chance to experience video art, something rather uncommon to be seen from the street.
Discover it in the 12 window displays at the van der Helstplein 3 in Amsterdam. The exhibition is part of the series Art Exhibitions at the van der Helstplein.

Come and watch these fascinating videos from 17th December 2015 – 8th March 2016. Opening 18th December 2015 from 5-7pm outside van der Helstplein 3 in Amsterdam.
